Smells like INC spirit .....................

Are great companies where people work with passion and joy only found in the fortune and fast company ...... ?

Is determination and courage something only seen in super-hero cartoons and Chicken soups of the world .....?

Is the world so gray and washed out that there is nothing really great about what we do or how we live ......?

Do we really have to go to self-improvement books and 1000 bucks seminars to refocus our minds ......?

Is asking such questions a deliberate and a rather economical way of spreading self radiating propoganda.... ?

Is commenting back to all this a futile excercise in itself that most of us wouldnt bother looking at it in the first place.... ?

Does this make me look like a fool amongst a world of grown-ups , asking silly questions..... ?

Should i really bother about an answer to the previous question .....?

Was this what you would call a mind-fuck ?

The Author

Many a time , most of us feel at least i do that its time i do something greatby writing a great thought or penning a few verses and literally try squeezing thoughts ouy like scraping the last bit of paste out of a tube ......
This excercise no matter how tiring is the least bit stimulating and these lines stand as lasting testimony to the phenomenon......

"so you want to be a writer?"
-Charles Bukowski (1920 - 1994)

if it doesn't come bursting out of you
in spite of everything, don't do it.

unless it comes unasked out of your
heart and your mind and your mouth
and your gut, don't do it.

if you have to sit for hours
staring at your computer screen
or hunched over your typewriter
searching for words, don't do it.

if you're doing it for money or fame, don't do it.

if you're doing it because you want
women in your bed, don't do it.

if you have to sit there and
rewrite it again and again, don't do it.

if it's hard work just thinking about doing it, don't do it.
if you're trying to write like somebody else, forget about it.

if you have to wait for it to roar out of you,
then wait patiently.
if it never does roar out of you, do something else.

if you first have to read it to your wife
or your girlfriend or your boyfriend
or your parents or to anybody at all,
you're not ready.

don't be like so many writers,
don't be like so many thousands of
people who call themselves writers,
don't be dull and boring and
pretentious, don't be consumed with self-love.
the libraries of the world have
yawned themselves to sleep over your kind.

don't add to that.
don't do it.

unless it comes out of
your soul like a rocket,
unless being still would
drive you to madness or
suicide or murder,
don't do it.
unless the sun inside you is
burning your gut,
don't do it.

when it is truly time,
and if you have been chosen,
it will do it by
itself and it will keep on doing it
until you die or it dies in you.

there is no other way.
and there never was.

Nothing Else Matters

Sitting in front a computer and wondering whats gonna be the next thing that you do so that u can be the next big thing !, isnt that quite a common setting that we all face these days , thanks to the dotcom boom bust or whatever u call it in the 1990's , I along with a countless millions have started to belive that a good idea with shiploads of conviction is just enough to change your life at least and the world at most .
Today entrepreurship is no longer just another attractive option but the only way ahead for me ........................
and now as the opening lines of "nothing else matters" stream through earphones which have already started hurting me and as the words start rambling from my fingertips to the keypads all im thinking is that when the hell is realisation going to dawn upon me to take up a lil bit more of courage and as it goes in urdu "Khudi" the feeling of self.....
never care for what they do
never care for what they know
but i know ...........

well guess what i have decided now right now that i am goin to work on my venture
despit how tough its gonna get ..........

At this Hour !

Its pretty late 3:00 am to be precise well from a BPO-ing country that i come from thats not exactly newsmaking ....
but im in a profession which i chose over my peers who decided to graze at supposedly greener( read safer ) pastures whereas with all humilty let me say that yours truly had shown some balls to take a dotcom job or something close to one .....
well guess its all paying off.......
getting late night inter galactic visions of building an entire industry of e-consulting in a country where the basics of the business are yet to be adopted where an average read kid could "roger" a supposedly "senior" official in a supposedly evolved company .

But I guess the joy of achieving something finally revolves around taking shit atleat initially and then finding the pot of less shit at the end of it all.

still havent completed the lewis book got ot do that soon
got to submit the proposal for the research
got to figure out a good launderer.....
got to malfunction the entire wardrobe

got to do a lot of things ............

and best part of all breed an entire farm of ppt's

wowowowoowowowowowoowwowowowoow !!!!!!!!!!!!

Branson bolte bolte yahaan tak aa gaya ..........

One of the most unique excerises which i undertook as a postgradstudent of marketing at the Times School Of Marketing(, my alma mater was an excercise called Book Presentation's the title itself is self explanatory as the whole excercise is all about deeply studying the subject, content and context of the book and making a multimedia presenation to the class as well as an eminent panel consisting of the top media nd marketing professionals of New Delhi, and therfore possibly of India.
The first book which got presented inthis annual excercise was "Loosing My Virginity" the story of the self made billionaire Sir Richard Branson and his Virgin Group.
Boy that was almost a year back and now sitting atmy office and going through an old issue of slate again i bump into this guy.
The fascination still lingers on in my mind as i recall the of how dazed i was when i read about how an ordinary teenager could start with something as obscure as selling music cassettes and LP's through mail order and then bolstering that with a youth mag .

That was very similar to my first venture, a campus tabloid called "Campus Times",it was just a single issue wonder due to a lot of reasons.

Now This is getting really biographical , but what the heck i know quite well that this is gonna be a one reader blog .

Ok so this is how it goes......................

I was a Pre - Degree or by non kerala terms a high school final year student . Ok now why Pre-Degree ,coz this was the peultimate course before undertaking fulltime graduation majoring in a subject.
So during my pre degree days i was quite a wild and reckless kid, very undiplomatic and didnt even know what tact or "playong it smooth meant " . Being one of the most outspoken as well one of the few kids aroun who can jab a few lines of neruda and marquez and pack in a punch into a five minute fiery speech about youth liberation, unemployment and the Global Neo-Colonial Conspiracy to chain the Socio-Economic Freedom of the developing third world (Phew That was mouthful ! ).
So now u willbe having a clear picture of what it would be like growing up in a politically fertile swampland sloshed with a healthy dose of violence, communal prejudices and other blah blah blahs which i wont be mentioning coz that would lead to another batch of truckloads of unmouthable mouthfuls (jeez now where did that come from !)
Ok in these circumstances that i grew in , i had to choose between the two predominant student parties in the college Kerala Students Union (KSU) and Students Federation Of India (SFI),ignoring sidekicks like the pro-nationalist extra lager saffronite ABVP , the confused self proclaimed speedy gonsalvic AISF.
Now a little about the donkey and elephant of my college .
KSU (I'll be only using three letter words !) and SFI were the two poles apart of the kerala society , both representing the diverse socio-cultural backgrounds of students .KSU or the congress backed wing was percieved to be a central right pro democratic pro rich and pro everything thing !. whereas the SFI was the braiwashed leftwing intelligentsia or thats what they thought they were and thats wthat they were forcing others to believe.
Looking back and that too almost 5 years ago i cant help laughing at all the antics and the self proclaimed stabs at rehearsing actual democracy.
Believe this stuff is damn serious that actual murders and attempted murders have happened regarding something as trifle and unecessary as this.
This seems to be developing into an interesting read so for the time being im taking leave .

Hindi Chini Bhai Bhai ?The McKinsey Quarterly: China and India: The race to growth

The comparison between India and China two of the largest behemoths in all meanings of the word has been done for an umpteen number of times ,especially the Indian media who seem to display a n acute shortage of debatable subjects, the tut simply remains that on most coparable baisis china trups india due to the sheer size of its markets and the dynamics of a liberal yet tightly reined in fiscal policy where the yuan is devalued to a point where it is affeting the american economy in a signficant way .
The issues raised in the Mckinsey quarterly show the road not taken for india and china , while one is recasting itself as the hub of the outsourced services industry the other has already been the ultimate factory yard for yhe world.
The major difference between the two remains the orientation of the government and the mentality of the entrepreneurs in tackling the issue of generating income.

Jim Clark

Am Currently Reading The New New Thing by Michael Lewis, a fascinating book on one of the most inspiring guys who were leading the heady days of the valley
Found this writeup on the man himself on salon check it outa
Whatever it takes

Some lessons/quotes from Mark Cuban, owner of the Dallas Mavericks, on how he worked from making $18,000 per year into being a multi-millionaire. Read the full story in Mark's Manifesto at ChangeThis.

PeopleĆ¢€¦trusted me, not because I was the most knowledgeable . . ., but because they knew I would do whatever it took to get the job done.

You never quite know, in business, if what you are doing is the right or wrong thing.

Everything I read was public. Anyone could buy the same books and magazines. The same information was available to anyone who wanted it. Turns out most people didn't want it.

No product is perfect and if there are good competitors in your market, they will figure out how to abuse you.

This Guy is amazing !...
one of the poster boys of the dotcom days when i used to be at school plannin ways to fool out a billion out of the VC god's .
He's quite impressive with his entrepreneurial GaGa and all

my sporadic interests

So after a quite "eventful" week at my first job ,just felt like loggin on here and jus spittting out a few thoughts.............
After spending almost a year of my life in internships across many places like JWT,AC Nielsen,The Times Of India amd all , now joining a company for good , still feelin like im in another internship
that sense of belongingness and continuity hasnt yet dawned on me yet
dunno why ?
and somewhere im feelin like im not in exactly the same wavelenght as these people
The main reason why i got into this place was becoz i wanted to have space for my thoughts and ideas ....
this place is already turning out to be a nightmarish system, just thinking about churning out work in time.

At the end of the day or even at the beginning of the day the client is hiring us to provide something which is beyond his capabilities otherwise any fool could get a graphich designer and a computer to craft average ,middle of the road creatives.
Creative uniqueness with strategic direction would be the process that drive the effort toward acieving the objective of the client brief and not the process of finding satisfaction in meeting impossible deadlines and constraints.

Why do people blog ?

So finally I managed to get my own blog ,
hey that's not true ! I had the dubious distinction of fathering two anorexic blogs roaming around in the wilderness of cyberia .............
so lets hope that atleast this third sibling of theirs would grow up healthy and happy as a captive bred Chinese panda .........................
This blog would try to focus on my daily musings and adventures in a leading interactive consulting firm and the little battles that I fight in the my small dome ........................................
I will try to lodge the thoughts and ideas that ooze out of my mostly nomadic mind and would try to store them for later recall....................
with that noble thoughts in mind ladies and gentlemen without further adieu let me break the bottle of wine over the bow of my ship .. er.. blog !
